Heathcare Policy Taskforce
Health care is becoming increasingly more expensive for employers and individuals.
The current trend of cost escalation is not considered to be sustainable.
This results from a number of misaligned economic incentives, which do not deliver a coordinated, efficient system of healthcare. It is our intention to study and recommend improvements to the current system that will result in the following.
- Affordable insurance for small medium and large organizations
- Enhanced personal accountability for health and lifestyle choices
- A better defined value proposition. (How do we define value in health care?)
- A rational way to deliver health care.
Issues for Consideration:
- This taskforce will study the cost drivers of the current healthcare delivery system. This will encompass perspectives from the provider, payer and governmental systems. This taskforce will also deal with the process for spreading risk and plan design ramifications for an insured population
- This taskforce will study and recommend changes to the current healthcare system from the individual’s perspective. It will recommend principles that will drive behavioral change for healthcare consumers, including financial incentives.
- This taskforce will study the current delivery system and make recommendations for improvement that will result in a more rational and efficient delivery of healthcare. Among issues to be discussed will be the prioritization of treatment populations, alignment of incentives and a reduction in abuse of the system.
